Basic life is $0.15 per $1,000 of benefit. The majority of staff have a $50,000 benefit, so basic retiree life is $7.50 per month. To have basic life as a retiree, you would need to have elected at retirement and it can be effective until age 65. If you have waived it at any time, you can not re-enroll
